From the recording 8 One Hope (Standing Proud)

“One Hope (Standing Proud)” is a very different kind of song—topical in nature—the words address the continuing atrocities that have been taking place in Darfur for more than half a decade. There is no fiction here. In fact, the reality of the situation is so unbelievable, it’s hard to imagine. Those in power “have left us blinded to what is real.” Echoing “Sea of Hope,” we are reminded that many people, in worse conditions than most Americans will ever experience, still have hope. And like the words in “Open the People,” we are asked to “open up our hearts,” that “we CAN make a difference.”
